Q: What is the Eezer "Bikes Save Lives" Charity Campaign?
A: The Eezer Initiative is an initiative started to assist pregnant women, providing them with better and more secure alternatives for reaching the right facilities when in need of assisted deliveries. The initiative was started by Lars Klingsbo, an aid worker and adventure motorcyclist who visited the Maasai communities in Southern Kenya.
Klingsbo, along with a group of other motorcycling entrepreneurs, came up with the idea of a motorcycle ambulance. Over time, it expanded to what is today known as Eezer AB, with the support association The Eezer Association of Sweden, which was formed in 2018 as a response to the increase of volunteers and donations. In 2021 the association will be eligible to apply for “90- account” .
Eezer AB owns the brands Eezer and The Eezer Initiative and is also responsible for the digital tracking and monitoring platform. This is a non-for-profit organisation, and the donations to not go to the owners nor the company.
Eezer AB and the Eezer Association of Sweden are both important to manage formalities and funds, but the real work and the real impact happens in the “Eezer community”. That's why we also coined and registered the brand The Eezer Initiative which gives a face and identity to the community or network of individuals, organizations and companies that share the same vision and collaborates in achieving the same goals of contributing to the work of reducing maternal mortality.
Q: Why has Pierce decided to collaborate with Eezer?
A: We believe that contributing to society is an important part of every company’s responsibility. In Eezer we have found a partner that not only does good but also does that in a space that fits well with our passion for riders and motorbikes.
Q: Why has Eezer decided to collaborate with Pierce?
A: Most people within the Eezer Initiative ride motorcycles and we love riding in Africa.
We relate very well to other motorcyclists of all kinds who often want to be part of what we are trying to achieve. By collaborating with Pierce we have a platform for connecting and channeling that love and involvement from the motorcycle community in Europe.
Q: How much of the donations will be used for administrational costs at Eezer?
A: We are keen on being good corporate citizens and playing by the book when it comes to paying taxes and duties and to keep our books in order both in Sweden and in the different countries that we operate in. With our systems of volunteers and CSR partnerships we are able to keep overhead costs to a minimum.
Administration is however not to be seen as bureaucratic inefficiency it is rather to be seen as quality control to make sure we play by the book and that we are reaching set targets.
We are for example developing a digital tracking and monitoring system so that we get data on all vehicles movements. This will help us to take informed decisions to increase efficiency.
The joint Pierce/Eezer project will have less than 10% in administrative costs.
Q: How can I as a customer/donator know that my money is well spent?
A: The task that we are taking on is an extremely challenging task. The people that need the Eezer most are often challenged by poverty, conflicts, climate issues and remoteness from social services.
Follow-up of the work is done both by our cooperating partners as well as by ourselves.
However, there are areas that we can not monitor for safety reasons. Like Somalia, Parts of Congo and Burundi.
Part of our work the coming years will be to develop a digital tracking and monitoring system that will inform us on the efficiency of the different units.
The specific funds raised in the Pierce/Eezer partnership will be managed in it’s own sub-project with a steering committee consisting of representatives from both Pierce and from The Eezer Initiative as well as from executing organizations in East Africa.
Q: How much will Pierce donate in addition to what I donate?
A: Challenge us! Pierce will match each donation 1€ to 1€.
Q: How will I get updated on what happened with my donation?
A: Once the donation period is over an email will be sent to all donors informing about results. The results may also be published on Pierce websites and in Social media.
Q: Why do you have to pay freight if you buy only the donation Certificate?
A: Unfortunately we cannot offer this option currency so we encourage everyone to think of “Bikes save lives” when shopping for something more.
